Sanford Health has a new program to assure that no one dies alone in the hospital.
Hospital staff say sometimes a patient doesn't have family or family members can't get to the hospital before a loved one passes away.
The "No One Dies Alone" program relies on on-call volunteers to keep company with patients during their final hours.
Patients are typically in their final 48 hours before a volunteer is called, and then the volunteer sticks with them until the very end.
