Students Learn the Dangers of Distracted Driving in Simulator

Posted: Updated:

This week, area students get the chance to really experience the dangers of texting while driving without taking their chances on the road.

AT&T brought their virtual reality driving simulator to West Fargo high school on Monday. The simulator lets you text and drive in a realistic, but safe environment.

It's all a part of AT&T's "texting & driving... it can wait" campaign, and students say the simulator has really opened their eyes.

"Usually when my friends text and drive they make it look easier but once you are actually doing it like by yourself on a simulator it's harder than it looks," explains West Fargo student Dezare Heidt.

The simulator was brought to the Fargo-area schools by AT&T, Safe Kids of Fargo/Moorhead and the North Dakota Safety Council. Tuesday the distracted driving simulator will be in Buffalo, North Dakota and it travels to Fargo South on Friday.
