In Friday's Healthier Me, the latest figures from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention show 42 states with widespread flu activity.
That's down 11% from 47 last week, but the illness is still widespread in most of the nation; while cases on the East Coast are declining, they continue to rise in the mid- to western parts of the country.
The number of people visiting their doctor with flu-like symptoms is above average, and hospitalizations from the flu are at higher-than-normal levels. People over age 65 are among the hardest hit populations.
Yet things are improving; Lake Region Healthcare in Fergus Falls has lifted visitor restrictions it put in place back on January 9th in response to the flu outbreak.
