Goldmark Tenants Left in the Cold

Posted: Updated:

We received word from a tenant living in a Goldmark property that he was having problems with his heat.

When the maintenance guy came to fix the problem, he alerted the tenant that the heat was working just fine.

The problem was actually a lack of insulation. The walls were cold, and there was a draft coming from his screen door.

Valley News Live talked to other tenants in the building who are having similar issues. One said he had his heat at 90, but it was still only 58 degrees in his apartment.

Another said that he had to turn on his oven and open the oven door to heat his apartment. A couple said they use space heaters to heat their units.

But what could be causing the problems?

One tenant feels that the patio doors are the source of all the cold. In fact, we learned that all the patio doors were replaced a couple of years ago.

Though, one of the tenants says he does that kind of work, and the patio doors were not installed correctly. He says they are poor quality and lack insulation.

Most of the tenants say they would rather live with the problems than try to contact management. Those that have tried in the past say the response is slow.

We tried to talk with Goldmark CFO Kurt Bollman to ask him about the problems, but we received a text saying he was in a meeting all day.

He did text back and say he is available to talk with us next Tuesday.

Tenants are mainly concerned that with the coldest night to come Thursday, they could face some tough conditions inside their apartments.

More information will follow as we continue this story and talk with Goldmark directly.
