Detroit Lakes murder has neighbors searching for answers

Posted: Updated:

For neighbors in the Kountry Manor Mobile Home community, answers are hard to come by- even when a crime scene is just yards from the front door.

"When I woke up in the morning, I saw all the cop cars up here on the hill," Cripps said. "I just found out this morning that two guys were shot, I guess."

Cripps didn't hear the gun shots that nights, although he lives just next door. He did, however, see the commotion the next morning.

He says there were multiple police cars surrounding the community.

Investigators say Ronald Quiceno used a .22 revolver to shoot at Travis Buckanaga and Barris Guy.

It happened at a party late Friday night. Quiceno wasn't arrested until the next afternoon.

Family members of Buckanaga, 23, gathered around the home today, but were too emotional to go on camera with Valley News Live.

Meanwhile, the neighborhood is hoping for an explanation.

"It's pretty scary that can be happening right next door, because I have one son that lives here and one grandson that lives here," Cripps said.

The Bureau of Criminal Apprehension couldn't share details of the investigation.

Valley News Live respected the privacy of the Buckanaga family in coping with the loss of Travis, but his father shared Travis was shot multiple times in the chest. He says his son died before friends could get him into the car to drive to the hospital.

Barris Guy, 26, was also injured in the argument and taken to Sanford Hospital in Fargo. Hospital employees were not able to get us information on his condition.
