Shanley Students Participate in Walk for Life

The 40th annual "March for Life" is taking place in Washington, D.C., where anti-abortion activists rally from the National Mall to the Supreme Court.

Nearly 150 Shanley students and kids from local churches took part in protesting the Supreme Court's 1973 Roe v. Wade ruling which legalized abortion. Group members say they started marching about noon and continued for about three hours.

Nick Emmel, one of the teachers who attended the protest, described the atmosphere for us: "Lots and lots of young people. High schools. Colleges. People are singing songs. There's snow falling right now, so there's kind of a blanket of white snow happening, and people are shouting and chanting."

Nearly 500,000 people were expected at today's rally.

The Shanley group will be back Monday afternoon.
