Lost Power in Ada, MN, Closes School Today

People in Ada, Minnesota tell Valley News Live they saw a fire ball in the sky Thursday morning as a transformer exploded. The power went off around 5:30 a.m. It was on and off throughout the morning. The power has since been restored to about 500 people who were without Thursday morning.

Public works officials say the power has been pretty consistent since 10:30 a.m. City leaders say the top blew off a regulator at the transformer. A lot of oil is on the ground, causing a big mess that needs to be cleaned up.

 

 


 

 Power crews in Ada, Minnesota are scrambling to get the power back on to half of the town. School is canceled for Thursday.

 Ada City Hall confirmed the power is out. The city has municipal power.  

The outage is affecting the west part of town.  Ada has a population of about 1700 people. Crews are working to get at least partial power back on.
