Posted: Updated:

If you saw some furry readers at the Fargo Public Library today, it wasn't because people were bundling up for the weather.

Library reading programs had some help from assistance dogs.

The Red River Therapy Pet Partners volunteer time to bring in dogs trained in reading education.

Volunteers say the kids benefit from reading to the well-behaved canines.

"The purpose behind the actual reading program is to allow children to read without any intimidation without judgement put for whatsoever," Maribeth Plankers, volunteer, said. "They're reading to the dog and it should create that atmosphere that whatever you read, the dog is willing to listen."

If you missed it, you can catch it again next month.

The dogs will be there for two hours in the afternoon. Your kids can sign up for 15 minute sessions.
