Roaming Turkeys Caught in North Fargo

Posted: Updated:

Some turkey trouble in north Fargo is now solved. People at the North Dakota Game and Fish Department got called out after close to two dozen turkeys were spotted roaming around the airport.

North Dakota Game and Fish officials started baiting the birds, and when enough of them got together, they dropped a net on them. On  Monday, 20 of the 22 nuisance turkeys were caught. Game and Fish officials say this hunt went well.

"These were actually pretty hungry and pretty tame," Explains Jim Houston, Game and Fish Technician. "So they came in within a hour... normally we wait a few days. We have been baiting here since last week, we set up the net this afternoon and they cooperated."

The turkeys will be tagged and released into the wild near Jamestown.
