North Dakota Guard Soldiers Honored

Posted: Updated:

North Dakota National Guard soldiers were honored in Bismarck Sunday. The men and women served in the first 112th Aviation Battalion on a year long peacekeeping mission in Kosovo. The battalion returned to the United States in September.

On Sunday, friends, family and state leaders honored the soldiers and airmen in a freedom salute ceremony. Soldiers from the battalion say after spending a year overseas, they're slowly adjusting to life back home. Governor Jack Dalrymple says citizens owe the soldiers, their families and their employers "a debt of gratitude for their service and sacrifice."

The 1st 112th battalion is made up of guardsmen from 15 cities around North Dakota.
