Tropical Reefs In Fargo

Posted: Updated:

Saturday Fargo got a break from the snow and a look at something more tropical.

Red River Valley's Reefers (RRVR) club focuses on the salt water hobby, and today they had vendors showing off fish, coral and live stock. The club frag's or makes their own corals, which is a way to keep ones in the ocean safe. This was their first year bringing clubs from all around like Grand Forks, the Twin Cities and Sioux Falls.

"I mean we're right in the middle of a land locked area so the oceans pretty far away from us and scuba diving and things like that, so having a little bit of the ocean here in Fargo, brings a little bit of the tropical reef to this area." says Curtis Ness from the RRVR.

Reefer club members say that someday if there is reefs that become extinct in the ocean they most likely will have some in their salt water tanks.
