Warm Weather Bursting Water Mains

Posted: Updated:

Moorhead Public Works says the warm temperatures you are enjoying could be to blame for Monday morning's multiple water main breaks.

Water Construction Forman Matt Endvik says at least three were reported in Moorhead: one off of 8th Street and 11th Avenue near Concordia College, another on the north side of town near the court house, and a third by the post office.

Fargo Public Works was also working on a water main break Monday morning at 42nd Street and 18th Avenue.

Endvik says when the temperatures go from cold to warm, the ground shifts, and that can cause older pipes and water mains to burst.
