Red River Zoo Looking For Help

Posted: Updated:

The Red River Zoo is looking for help in adding new exhibits.  The organization depends on the publics support to stay running during the winter months.

They're currently planning to break ground this spring to build an otter exhibit, but are still are looking for more funding. The project would take three months to build. The zoo is only open on the weekends during the winter to save money, but they encourage people to see some cold climate species.

"We are seeing an increase of attendance in the winter, but it's not enough to get us through. And our expenses go up in the winter, so without the community support and the donations that we receive, it would be very difficult for us to manage." says Executive Director Lisa Tate.

The Red River Zoo is still looking for another sponsor to support the otter exhibit.
