Fergus Falls Band to March in President's Inaugural parade

Posted: Updated:

It's official! A tally of the electoral college vote affirms President Barack Obama's re-election. In just about 3 weeks, America will tune-in to see the president sworn in for his second term. But for a very talented group of Fergus Falls students, they'll get to experience it all in person as their schools marching band will be the only band from Minnesota to perform in the inauguration parade.

This is the second time the band has been selected. It's somewhere Fergus Falls band director Scott Kummrow has been before. "It is an honor being chosen twice," says Kummrow. But it's the first time these performers will experience marching in the president of the United States inauguration parade. "The opportunity to play on a national stage is exciting," says Justin Gullickson, senior at Fergus Falls High School. Exciting and memorable. The 127 students will depart the school on the 17th and arrive back on the 22nd.

But what takes place during that time..they say will be something they'll never forget. "This is just amazing." The band says they could still use your help.

They set a $60,000 fundraising goal to help them with travel expenses and have yet to make it.
