Minnesota Man-Cave "Bears" Checking Out

Posted: Updated:

When we asked you how you were preparing for the big game tomorrow, a lot of folks said they were getting their "man-caves" ready for big parties. So we set out to find the coolest man cave in the region -- by asking all of you to write in your suggestions and send pictures.

We got a lot of names -- and a lot of very impressive photos of well-stocked bars, gaming systems, big-screen TVs and other high-tech embellishments.

But the man-cave we were really interested in was the one with a little more low-tech approach...The Hought family man-cave, near Foxhome, Minnesota.

The Houghts were nominated by more than one person, both for its unique bear bar and for its consistency of theme throughout the decor.

Specifically, that theme would be hunting... since the Houghts shot each and every one of the animals you see in it. They include two mounted deer heads, one with an unusual full complement of velvet on the antlers, a jackalope, and an impressive assortment of bears, including the aforementioned "Boo" fully mounted in the room's bar.

Even their teenage daughter, Taylor, brought down her own black bear -- a hundred-and-fifty-pounder on her very first hunting trip ever.

"I said, 'if you can get me a pink rifle, I'll go hunting,'" she says.

And her mother Lisa says it's great to get all the animals out of the living room.

We appreciate everyone writing in and sending pictures of their favorite man caves for our story.
