Aftermath of Ada Elevator Fire

Posted: Updated:

UPDATE

Fire crews from all across the area worked to control a massive fire Thursday night at the Triple Crown elevator in Ada, Minnesota; thirteen surrounding fire departments -- including Gary, Twin Valley, and Moorhead -- turned out to help fight what was a very long battle.

Additional crews finally left around 5am today, while the Ada fire department continued watering hotspots and watching for flare ups. Thursday night's battle required nearby fire stations to send in extra tanks of water, which allowed crews to limit damage and save a nearby structure completed just last year.

The fire, which broke on the southwest corner of the nearly 100-foot-tall structure, was reported shortly after 6pm. Fire crews worked hard to keep surrounding buildings safe, the only damage was a few broken windows from the heat. There are believed to be no injuries.
