Fargo zoo has new exhibit for cranes

Posted: Updated:

The Red River Zoo in Fargo has a new exhibit to house the zoo's white-naped cranes.

The pair have lived at the zoo for a few years now but only been in the zoo's breeding area, not open to the public. The new exhibit will allow the public to get up close to the birds.

The species is not listed as endangered but is said to be a species of concern as only about 4,000 remain in the world and about 90 live in captivity in the U.S.

The zoo will cut the ribbon on their new exhibit at a ceremony today, made possible by donations of material and labor.
