I-29 Shutdown After Rollover

Posted: Updated:

The northbound lanes of interstate-29 were blocked for a short time Wednesday afternoon after a rollover crash about three miles south of Grandin. Life-flight was called because of the severity of the crash, and the helicopter ended up landing on the interstate.

A woman over-corrected and rolled her car several times across both lanes of traffic. Grandin Fire and Rescue had to cut the woman out of the car, but miraculously, she only suffered some neck pain.

The North Dakota State Patrol says the woman was wearing a seatbelt, and it's likely what helped her escape severe injury.

"The doors were pinned," explains trooper Cody Harstad. "She was still okay inside the vehicle she was in her seat belt and everything. We just had to get her out of the vehicle so we did open the drivers side door."

I-29 was shut down at mile marker 88 after the life-flight helicopter landed on the roadway. Traffic was blocked for 20-30 minutes.
