Lock Up Your Car

Posted: Updated:

As people continue to shop and return holiday presents, police remind shoppers to lock their doors. They say thieves are out looking for unlocked cars in store parking lots.

Officers with the Fargo Police Department were going around the mall parking lot looking for cars that were unlocked, and confronting the owners about it. Sergeant Kevin Pallas says sometimes people get busy running from store to store and forget to lock their doors, but he stresses it's important to remember.

He also says getting a car starter can help. "Allowing vehicles to idle whether it's a home, at a business or store parking lot, you're really taking that risk to lose that vehicle, so it's important to not do that." Sgt. Pallas says.

Other safety tips for when you're out shopping, park in a well lit area and shop with a friend.
