"Slippery Slope" Course for New Winter Drivers

Posted: Updated:

Many new or out-of-state drivers haven't had much experience driving during winter road conditions, and the North Dakota Safety Council hopes to help through a class that's now available.
The "slippery slope" course drivers how to drive on different surfaces in all four seasons. Experts offer advice whether you are driving a two-door car or an 18-wheeler.

"We have lots of young drivers coming up and obviously lots of new drivers coming to North Dakota all the time," explains Serena Schmit with the state safety council. "So we wanted to offer a course that could, whether it's a business offering the course or parents sending their kids to it, just something to help them understand the risks that are associated with winter driving."

The slippery slope course is also a good refresher for experienced drivers. To get a look at locations and times the course is offered head to the safety council website www.ndsc.org.
