82-year-old knits more than 16,000 caps for newborns

It's rare, that you would find 82 year old Erma Stordahl, with out a needle and thread in her hand. "I have knitted forever, for about 60 years."

But since the 1970's, Erma started knitting caps for babies born at the hospital. "I started with pink and blue and decided to make green Christmas ones."

Over the years, Erma has knitted more then 16,000 caps for babies at Sanford. But has never met one of the babies who have received her cap, until Thursday morning.

Little Daniel Alm, newborn son of Rachel and Daniel, is the latest child to receive one of Erma's caps. Erma couldn't be more proud to actually see her work complete.
