Minnesota Unemployment Rate Goes Down

Posted: Updated:

Minnesota's unemployment rate has dropped another notch to 5.7 percent.

The Department of Employment and Economic Development officials released statistics Thursday while describing job gains and losses in various sectors for November.

The state made a net gain of 10,800 jobs that month. In the past 12 months, the state has picked up 55,200 jobs.

Minnesota's seasonally adjusted unemployment rate has remained well below the national average. Federal statistics released a couple of weeks ago showed the national jobless rate for November was 7.7 percent.

For October, the state's seasonally adjusted jobless rate was 5.9 percent.

Trade transportation and utilities industries led all sectors in new jobs with education and health services, leisure and hospitality and construction strong as well.

Professional and business services as well as government lost jobs.
