Fargo Helping Sandy Hook Victims

Posted: Updated:

Although Sandy Hook Elementary is almost 1,500 miles from Fargo, there are many people around looking for ways to help. Fargo has a few little ways that people are trying to help after a big tragedy.

Jo Knutson is a mother of two and also a photographer. "I think as a parent it struck me, any parent I think was bothered by Sandy Hook." Jo says. So she decided to join another F-M area studio and help The Olivia Act. Offering a free photo session for one family in the area, just one way she can help.

"I think the thing about pictures, and anything you know that memories are fleeting, as much as you want to try and remember this persons face, and what they look like right then, and pictures really capture it." Jo says. And Jo isn't the only one in the area trying to help, Revive is using Facebook as a way to give back.

"We thought a dollar to get us to 1,000 likes would be awesome so our goal is $200 and our ultimate goal is to challenge other small businesses like ourselves. To be able to take a positive step forward and doing something although be it small, it's just nice to do something to help."

Both Jo and Rachel are doing a small part in helping people from 1 to 1400 miles away.

There is also a Twitter trend called #26ActsOfKindness, it's a movement for people to do nice acts in remembrance of the 26 victims.
