Exposure to Radiation

Posted: Updated:

In tonight's HealthierMe, studies have shown that CT imaging and other screenings used by doctors to diagnose and monitor life-threatening conditions are linked to a higher lifetime risk of cancer.

However, Harvard University researchers say doctors should take a patient's immediate risk of death from their disease into account before deciding against these exams.

This is based on their analysis of testicular cancer patients whose risk of death from their cancer was more than three times higher than their long-term risk of death from radiation-induced cancers.
