Our own Robert Hahn remembers Newtown school shooting victim

Posted: Updated:

This is by no means a trip anyone would want to take. On Wednesday, Robert Hahn will be attending the funeral of Vicki Soto, the Newtown Connecticut teacher who was killed protecting those she taught.

"She is a hero. I don't know alot of people who would do the same thing she did." But more importantly, this hero, is a member of Robert's family.

"I was watching the news that day, and I realized I had family in Connecticut but didn't think it was in that area, then I realized my cousin had not heard from her daughter. I realized her daughter was Vicki Soto, that name you see everywhere now."

The news of the Newtown tragedy was difficult for the world to hear. 20 children and 6 teachers, including Soto, shot and killed in school. "I still don't comprehend it." But news that a member of his family, who reportedly pushed her children to the back of the room to save them, risking her own life, makes things a little easier.

"The fact she gave her life to save I don't know how many children is amazing." Amazing for a women that Robert may not have known well but knew her to be a part of his family. "She is a hero, not just to me, but to people around the world."

Vicki's funeral will be at 9:00 a.m. on Wednesday in Stratford, Connecticut.
