UPDATE: Tip Leads to Gate City Robbery Arrest

Wednesday afternoon, about 2 p.m. Timothy Patrick McKenna was arrested for the robbery of Gate City Bank, 1501 S. University Drive, which happened on December 17, 2012.

McKenna was arrested in the 1600 block of 1st Ave. S. for the robbery of Gate City Bank.  Police located McKenna with the help from a tip from a local business person who was able to identify him from the picture released to the media. The business person also noticed McKenna had a large amount of cash with him.

Further investigation found someone who knew the suspect, and that led authorities to a Fargo residence. Fargo investigators discovered evidence of the robbery at that location and McKenna was arrested without incident. 

On Monday, December 17 shortly after 4 p.m. a McKenna approached a teller and told her "this is a robbery, give me the money."  A firearm was shown, but no one was hurt.  McKenna was able to get away with a large amount of money.

ORIGINAL STORY

Fargo police blocked off streets in south Fargo trying to track down who may have been involved in a bank robbery. Police had the Gate City Bank just off of 15th Avenue and University Drive surrounded; The address is 1501 University Dr. South in Fargo.

The man ran from the bank on foot. Police set up a perimeter around the bank and when Valley News Live arrived on scene, police were inside the bank. Officers have been interviewing witnesses and workers inside the bank.

About an hour after the robbery, police released surveillance photos from the bank. They are looking for:

  • White man in his 50's
  • 5'5", 190-200 pounds
  • Grey beard
  • Wearing blue jeans, a camouflage jacket, & a baseball cap.
