Posted: Updated:

Witnesses and officers pulled a man from crash just after noon along Highway 10 near Detroit Lakes Wednesday, but say he had no pulse when they got to him.

It happened near East Shore Drive. Police say they think a medical problem caused the 64-year-old to cross lanes, drive into a ditch, and hit a tree. Although he had no pulse when they got there, authorities started CPR until paramedics arrived.

Clinton Trautman was there shortly after the crash happened, "All I had seen was the car smoking, me and the other fellow thought it was on fire so we ran down there, we tried to get the door open, but  we couldn't get it open. Then me and the highway patrol guy, we broke  the window and the other two pulled the guy out."

The name of the man hasn't been released yet, but we do know he is from Elk River, Minnesota. The Minnesota Highway Patrol is in the process of notifying his family.
