NDSU & UND Coaching Barefoot for Kids

Posted: Updated:

The big NDSU and UND basketball rivalry game had a more meaningful message today. Both coach Saul Phillips and coach Brian Joans didn't wear shoes during tonight's game. The barefoot men were making a statement to raise money for Samaritan's Feet. They are part of the one thousand coaches nationwide, who are voices for children who don't have shoes.

"A lot of areas in the world, walking is a main way of transportation, and to do so with feet puts them at risk for disease, it also sometimes prevents them from going to school, so it's a small gesture, we can make a big difference." says Coach Phillips.

NDSU grad Manny Ohonme started the organization. It's now gone national, and has provided millions of kids with shoes.
