Braun, Bison Hang On for 69-57 Win at Morehead State

Taylor Braun scored 23 points to lead North Dakota State to a 69-57 win over Morehead State in men's college basketball Wednesday, Dec. 5, at Johnson Arena.

Braun made 11 of 12 free throws including six in the final 66 seconds to help the Bison hang on after Morehead State whittled a 31-point second half deficit to 62-52.  NDSU did not make a field goal in the final 6:56 of the game.

Mike Felt scored nine points on three 3-pointers, Marshall Bjorklund had eight points and a season-high 11 rebounds, and Lawrence Alexander finished with eight points, four assists and five steals for NDSU (7-2).

Chad Posthumus had 13 points and nine rebounds off the bench for Morehead State (4-5), Angelo Warner scored 14 points and made three steals, and Devon Atkinson had 13 points and four assists.

Atkinson scored eight straight pointsto cap a 10-0 run by the Eagles that closed the gap to 60-41 with 4:45 to play.  After a pair of Braun free throws, Warner scored nine straight including a 3-pointer that made it 62-50 with 2:51 left.

The game was tied 11-11 before the Bison went on a 20-3 run in the first half to build a 31-14 lead.  It was 33-19 at halftime and NDSU scored the first 12 points of the second half to break the game wide open.

NDSU shot 42 percent overall including 7 of 19 from the 3-point arc, and the Bison were 18 of 22 at the free throw line.  MSU shot 30.5 percent overall and just 2-for-17 from the arc and 19-for-29 at the foul line.

North Dakota State hosts North Dakota at 4 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 9, at the Fargodome.  UND was 1-4 heading into Wednesday night's home game with Kansas City.
