Money Stolen from Fundraiser

Posted: Updated:

It was a night to remember for This Skate Shop in Fargo this weekend when a group of friends held a benefit for Billy Moyle, a 25 year old who was left paralyzed from the waist down following a car accident on Halloween.

The benefit raised thousands of dollars to help with Billy's medical expenses. "It was awesome until the end," says Tom Kemmer, a friend of Billy's. That's when they say some one took off with a money bag containing between 2,000 to 3,000 dollars.

Saturday night wasn't the first time money was taken from a local benefit; just weeks earlier, money was taken from a breast cancer fundraiser just up the street.

Lieutenant Vettel with the Fargo Police Department says it doesn't matter where you are, you always have to make sure your things are protected.

The guys back at This Skate Shop just hope something good will come out of this bad situation.

"I'd just love to see money come back," Kemmer tells us. "Don't matter who took it. Even if anyone wants to help out."

Even if the money never shows up, there are ways you can help help: call This Skate Shop at 701-365-8017 if you'd like to make a donation toward Billy's medical expenses.
