Posted: Updated:

The Fargo Police Department conducted a prostitution sting on November 27, 2012, which continued into the early morning hours of November 28th.

Fargo Police responded to escort advertisements on www.fargo.backpage.com.  Three women agreed to meet an undercover officer at a local hotel and all were arrested for prostitution after agreeing to sexual contact in exchange for money.  Those arrested were:

  • Tabbatha L. Olson, 22, Duluth, MN
  • Marcia J. Carter, 23, Fargo
  • Larae E. Gehrtz, 20, No Permanent Address

Prostitution is a Class B-Misdemeanor punishable by a maximum penalty of 30-days imprisonment and/or up to a $1,000 fine.

The Fargo Police Department has received recurring information about prostitutes operating at hotels in Fargo.  There was no information about prostitutes operating at the participating hotel, however, the participating hotel, along with 26 other hotels/motels in Fargo, has taken the stance of cooperating with law enforcement to allow these stings to take place in an effort to deter this and other crimes.  Their cooperation to help deter crime in their community is greatly appreciated.
