Stores Make Shopping Easy for Customers on Cyber Monday

Posted: Updated:

A record Thanksgiving night start to the holiday shopping season continued through the weekend. Nearly 250-million shoppers visited stores or web sites over the past four days.

The shopping continued on Cyber Monday with sales passing $1 billion by early afternoon.

With a simple click, you are able to avoid massive crowds and fill your cart with items.

Stores like JC Penney are making it this process even easier. Fargo JC Penney Team Leader Brian Kinsey says, "Year after year you see online getting a lot stronger, and that's certainly the case with us too."

Kinsey says the increased online traffic has changed how the retail store does business this time of year. JC Penney now offers the exact same deals Cyber Monday that it had Black Friday.

Kinsey says one of the biggest benefits to shopping online is what you can find online. He says there is about 20-30 percent more inventory for things like jackets, which come in a couple more colors and are cheaper.

The changes, Kinsey says, make it easier for the store to manage products, customer convenience and hired help.

That, in turn, has lead to strong sales online since Thanksgiving, sales that he expects to continue through Cyber Monday.

Keep in mind when shopping online, only buy from sites you trust. Try to make your purchase via Pay Pal to ensure you never have to give your personal information.
