Fill The Dome 2012

Posted: Updated:

They've filled the dome again for a sixth year, with hundreds of thousands of food items and they haven't even graduated high school.

60 plus schools make up the 2012 Fill The Dome effort, in hopes of reaching 500,000 meals this year alone. Also marked this year is the one millionth meal served from Fill The Dome.

1 in 11 people go to bed hungry in North Dakota every night and in Minnesota it's 1 in 10 people.

It's too early to tell how much food was donated this year, but pack up begins this morning at the Fargodome. Where the food will be weighed and sent off to the Great Plains Food Bank for distribution.

Since 2007 Fill The Dome has raised over 300 tons of food and over $225,000 to support local food pantries.

If you'd like to help Fill The Dome you can still donate through the end of November at their website www.Fillthedome.org or text "FillDome" to 20222 and an automatic donation of $10 will be made.
