The Layaway Angels

Posted: Updated:

Some folks in Jamestown are getting in the holiday spirit early according to K-Mart managers, who say they have already received donations from "layaway angels."

It started last year across the nation when anonymous people began contacting their local department stores to pay off a family's layaways. The Jamestown K-Mart alone had dozens of families whose layaways were paid off.

"Lots of tears... it was amazing," remembers store manager Joni Dalke. "There were a lot of people who said they wouldn't have had a Christmas without it, because they wouldn't have been able to pay off layaway."

The store hopes that even more angels will visit the store this year.

This is how it works: when you make an anonymous donation, the store will pick out which families they think need it the most.

Officials at Fargo's K-Mart say they had angels last year, but have yet to see any this season.
