A woman in West Fargo had a scary and unusual wake up call this morning. She found a drunk man trying to climb in bed with her. Dane Thomas McCartney was arrested for criminal trespassing.

McCartney went into the woman's unlocked home on Homestead Court in West Fargo. The woman woke up and talked to him. McCartney eventually wandered from the bedroom to the couch and slept there until police arrived.

Sergeant Jason Anderson of the West Fargo Police Department said it was a scary situation for the homeowner but likely just an intoxicated person making a big mistake. "There wasn't any violence or sexual nature to it. Basically I feel it was more of a intoxicated individual got the wrong house, made entry through an unlocked door, and was contacted by the homeowner."

Sergeant Anderson says this is an example of why it's always a good idea to lock your doors even if you live in a typically safe neighborhood.
