Man in Stolen Car Hits House

Posted: Updated:

A man is in jail for reckless driving, and at least two homeowners are facing big clean-up jobs after the guy made a mess of their front yards early Thursday morning. It happened in south Fargo in the neighborhood behind Villa Maria nursing home around 1:30 a.m.

Police say a drunk driver in a stolen car ripped up the landscaping and hit a house at 402 Harwood Drive. He then tore up the grass and landscaping at another house at 1102 32nd Avenue South just a few blocks away.

Neighbors told police the driver bailed out of the car and took off running, but police were able to catch up with him. They arrested Ayub Abukar of Fargo for a number of charges. The 31-year-old is being held on theft and possession of a stolen vehicle, fleeing police, DUI, driving under suspension, and reckless driving.
