One Hurt in Knife Attack Outside Moorhead Church

Moorhead Police arrested one person after a knife attack outside a church this weekend.

Investigators say it happened just after 2:00 Sunday morning at the First Congregational Church.

According to a news release the church had been rented for a private baby shower party and several uninvited males had been denied entry by the hosts. 

As the party was ending, several intoxicated men started yelling at each other in the parking lot, then one of the men was bit in the back with a knife.

As of Monday morning Standford Avorklya, who's 27 and from Spring Lake Park, MN, is listed in stable condition at a Fargo hospital.

The alleged attacker, 24-year-old Christopher Gray from Fargo, is being held in the Clay County Jail on a Felony 2nd Degree Assault with a dangerous weapon charge. 

Another man, 27-year-old Birthmont Pajibo from West Fargo is the Clay County Jail on a 5th Degree Assault charge.


The investigation is on-going.  The knife believed to have been used in the assault was recovered at the scene.
