Police Urge Slow Going on Slick Roads

Posted: Updated:

Sunday drivers in much of the Red River Valley are being greeted by icy surfaces underneath a blanket of snow. Police in the Fargo-Moorhead area report a few spin-outs in the hours before 7 a.m., but say that's before most people wake up and head out onto the roads. They say when you do hit the streets, cut your speeds because roads are slick and sanding crews have not been out yet.

The northern valley from Hillsboro to the Canadian border has ice and compacted snow. South of Hillsboro through the Fargo area and to the north of Wahpeton have scattered snow, drifts and ice underneath. Minnesota reports the northwest corner of the state in "fair" winter driving condition.
