North Dakota US Senate Candidates Working Hard In Final Hours

Posted: Updated:

We are into the final hours before the polls open and elections begin, and candidates are getting in every minute of campaigning they can. We caught up with the North Dakota U.S. senate candidates, democrat Heidi Heitkamp and republican Rick Berg.

Rick berg started out his morning in West Fargo, headed out to Minot, then to Bismarck and then ended his day in Fargo. Heidi Heitkamp made six stops today on her bring it home bus tour. She started in Park River, then went to Grafton, then to Grand Forks, then Mayville, then Wild Rice and finally made her way to Fargo this evening (Monday). A lot of miles were put on today and over the last few days.

Today (Monday), Heitkamp finished up the last of her bus tour. She made her way around the state over the past few days with other democratic candidates. And even though elections are tomorrow, Heidi says she'll keep campaigning until the last minute.

Heitkamp says, "I've worked almost a year, and I am not going to quit until every last vote is counted. That is the way I've always done everything that I've done. I am so grateful to the people of North Dakota for opening up their hearts, opening up their homes, opening up their pocket books."

And while Heitkamp wrapped up her tour today, Berg also bussed his way around the state this weekend. He held a two day tour with other republican candidates, but he did not stop campaigning. He made stops around the state thanking all of his volunteers for their hard for over the course of the campaign.

Berg says, "I tell you its full steam and for the past week its been so humbling but also exciting having the people, really as we criss cross the state, they come out, they're fired up. They want to take what we're doing in North Dakota and apply it to our nation. For me, that's exciting."

On Tuesday, we'll have extensive coverage of this race. Valley News Team's Amy Unrau will be live all evening in Fargo at representative Berg's watch party. Valley news team's Jennifer Titus will also be live in Bismarck with Heidi Heitkamp.
