Fuel Cost Fears in Wake of Sandy

Posted: Updated:

Even with Hurricane Sandy out of the picture, millions along the east coast are feeling the aftermath, including a shortage of gasoline. Gas is in high demand everywhere, but areas Hurricane Sandy devastated are in critically short supply. Lines are forming just to fill up containers of fuel.

But how are the fuel shortages along the east coast going to impact North Dakota? Drivers here in North Dakota are worried that the shortage in the east could impact prices here.

Investment analysts say the reason for low supply is that it is hard to get gas to stations with damaged roads and pumps.

Gas prices have gone down 30 cents since peaking in September, and the futures market indicates another 15 to 20 cents decline.
