The North Dakota U.S. Senate race has been a battleground, filled with attacks, intense political ads and fights for endorsements. Tonight (Monday) a big player made a push for democrat Heidi Heitkamp.
Paul Koppinger of Fargo says, "I'm leaning one way, but I'm here to confirm it."
It's a choice Paul Koppinger has been torn between for months. Whether to vote for Representative Rick Berg or Heidi Heitkamp for the North Dakota U.S. Senate. But now, that's all changed.
"I think this is going to giver her that extra push," says Scotney Young of Fargo.
After Berg recently gained endorsements from newspapers in Fargo, Minot and Bismarck, Heidi Heitkamp is getting a boost from President Bill Clinton, who endorsed her this past spring.
Former President Bill Clinton says, "Its important that you send somebody that will have credibility, that knows how to get along with people and knows how to listen to them and know show to make agreements. You know she can do that."
"He loves America, he loves service, he loves North Dakota, and I'm so extraordinarily proud to call him a friend," says Senate Candidate Heidi Heitkamp.
President Clinton told people that if you care about our country's debt, the farm bill, health insurance, medicare, inflation and affordable education, then Heidi is the right choice.
Clinton says, "You got to vote for it and you got to send America a message that we need more of it everywhere by electing Heidi Heitkamp to the Senate. Thank you and God bless."
And while Heitkamp rallied here in the East, her opponent, republican Rick Berg campaigned on the opposite side of the state, touring a coal mine in Buelah. Berg's schedule has him continuing to rally voters tomorrow in the western part of North Dakota with several stops planned.
