Breast Cancer Mortality Rates

In tonight's HealthierMe, some new findings on mortality rates among women with breast cancer. Compared to White women, Black women appear to have higher mortality rates during the first several years after a breast cancer diagnosis.

Doctors at the Harvard School of Public Health followed nearly 20,000 women with stage one through stage three breast cancer over about seven years.

The statistics showed that non-Hispanic Black women were at a 48% higher risk of dying in the first 3 years after diagnosis of their cancer compared to White patients.
