Inside the NDSU Meat Lab

The meat scientists at NDSU are opening the doors of their meat lab to the public today.

Visitors will have a unique chance to ask the experts questions, try some samples and learn how to pick and cook the perfect cut of meat.

The Meats Lab at North Dakota State University has scheduled an open house Friday, Oct. 26, from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. at Shepperd Arena, 1350 Albrecht Blvd. NDSU's Department of Animal Sciences and Meats Lab are spon?soring the event, which is free and open to the public.

Faculty and staff will conduct the following 15-minute educational workshops:

  • 3 p.m., "Degree of Doneness" – Learn how to cook the perfect steak or chop
  • 5 p.m., "Meat Selection" – Learn how to choose the best cuts and where they come from

Tours of the Meats Lab facilities are scheduled for 3:30 p.m., 4:30 p.m. and 5:30 p.m. Free sample products will be available and attendees will get the chance to meet student employees.
