Moorhead to Switch Water Source Temporarily

Posted: Updated:

Moorhead Public Service is switching its water supply source from the Red River to the Buffalo aquifer for the next three weeks for work on a river pumping station.

During the switch, customers may notice a slight change in their drinking water due to the difference in mineral content between the two water sources, but the city says the water will remain safe to drink during.

At the same time, the Minnesota DNR will study how the aquifer would respond to a long-term drought.
