Sanford Plans Children's Castle of Care in Bismarck

Posted: Updated:

Sanford Health plans to open a new children's clinic in North Dakota's capital city to provide more convenient access for families and to meet the community's growing need for health care services.

The 9,000-square-foot clinic in north Bismarck will be built to mimic a castle and feature a child-friendly environment, and will be another home for Meddy Bear. It is expected to open next spring, supplementing children's care currently provided at Sanford's downtown Bismarck campus.

"As pediatricians, we want to give children the care they need in an environment that puts them at ease and helps them feel comfortable," said Melissa Seibel, MD, pediatrician. "It's exciting that Bismarck will be home to the first Sanford Children's Castle of Care in North Dakota."

It will be the first Sanford Children's Castle of Care in North Dakota. Sanford merged with the former Medcenter One in Bismarck in July.

This initiative is part of Sanford Health's ongoing work to meet the growing health care demands of the region, caused in part by the Bakken oil boom in western North Dakota.

This new Sanford Children's Clinic will be located at 765 W. Interstate Ave., west of Pinehurst Veterinary Hospital.

Sanford Health is based in Fargo, N.D., and Sioux Falls, S.D. It bills itself as the largest not-for-profit rural health care provider in the country.
