Deputy Arrested in Break-In Resigns

Posted: Updated:

A Walsh County, Minnesota sheriff's deputy charged in last week's break-in at a Crookston gas station has resigned. Adam Koenig, 22, of Park River just got the job with the department in September and submitted his resignation Tuesday.

Koenig was charged with burglary and damage to property after officers found him lying on the floor behind the till area inside a Crookston Holiday gas station. When he was being arrested, he had a badge on his hip and identified himself as a sheriff's deputy.

Koenig was released from jail on $500 bail on Friday and he has a pre-trial court appearance scheduled for January.
