ND man sentenced to prison for domestic assault

Posted: Updated:

A North Dakota man has been sentenced to more than four years in prison for domestic assault by a habitual offender.

U.S. Attorney Timothy Purdon says 28-year-old Tarrell Little Bear, of Fort Yates, was sentenced to four years and nine months in prison. Prosecutors say Little Bear assaulted a woman he was in a relationship with by striking her several times with his fist on Sept. 29, 2011.

Little Bear had been convicted of at least two prior domestic violence assaults in Standing Rock Tribal Court. The Standing Rock Reservation straddles North Dakota and South Dakota.
