UND Homecoming Weekend

The University of North Dakota has events planned all weekend to continue celebrating this year's homecoming. The theme: Get your Green On. Show your UND spirit in your most creative ways. Homecoming Hounds will again be on the prowl looking to reward those who bleed green.

Plenty is going on campus and around Grand Forks, click the link on the right of this story for a full, detailed list. Here are a few highlights:

Friday

  • UND fan Luncheon from 11:45 a.m.-1:00 p.m. UND's head coaches will talk about the weekend's upcoming games and give you an insider's look at the team. Lunch is served, $10 per person. All fans are welcome. For more information, contact David Primus at david.primus@athletics.und.edu or 701.777.2237.
  • Alumni Center Grand Opening & Ribbon Cutting 3:00-5:00 p.m. The grand opening of the nation's first Platinum LEED certified alumni center – the Gorecki Alumni Center. A social will be held at 3:00 p.m., a dedication ceremony at 3:30, and a social and tours at 4:00 p.m.
  • UND Women's Soccer vs. Northern Arizona at 3:00 p.m. at Bronson field.
  • UND Men's Hockey at Ralph Engelstad Arena. The puck drops at 7:37 p.m.

Saturday

  • Homecoming parade at 9:00 a.m. on University Avenue from the Gorecki Alumni Center through University Park.
  • Tailgating at 1:00 p.m. at the Alerus Center parking lot.
  • UND Football vs. Northern Arizona at 3:00 p.m. at the Alerus Center. To purchase a reserved homecoming ticket call the UND Box Office at the Ralph at 701.777.4689, reservation call is Alumni. Tickets are also available through the Alerus Center Box Office or at any Ticketmaster, call 800.745.3000 or purchase online.To purchase season tickets, contact Dexter Albrecht, Director of Tickets Sales & Promotions at dexter.k.albrecht@athletics.und.edu or 701.777.4582.

Sunday

  • Green Gallop at 9:30 a.m. It's a 5k run/walk hosted by the UND Wellness Center. Prizes awarded to top male and female finisher and for most "spirited" running costumes. Refreshments provided after race. For more information, contact Patrick Marcoe at patrick.marcoe@email.und.edu or 701.777.3256.

C.A.T. Bus Detours

A heads up for people who use the Cities Area Transit system in Grand Forks and East Grand forks, some bus routes will be detoured Saturday morning for the University of North Dakota homecoming parade.

From 8:00 to noon, routes 2, 4, 6, and 8 will be detoured. If you ride the C.A.T. during those morning hours, you should plan ahead. The routes should be back to normal after noon.
