Two Plead Guilty in Badger, MN, Murder

Two people charged with the murder of a Badger, Minnesota man have pleaded guilty, and are set to be sentenced next month.

Jeremy Lemen, 34, and Desiree Shinholser, 25, were charged in the killing of John Currier. 31-year-old Currier was their neighbor.

An autopsy showed he died from strangulation and being struck in the head with a hatchet. Investigators says the couple confronted the victim after Shinholser said he attacked her in the hallway of the apartment.

The couple hid Currier's body in an attic crawl space where it was found later by Currier's girlfriend.

  A Badger, Minnesota couple was charged with second-degree murder in Roseau County Court today.

  Jeremy Lemen and his girlfriend, Desiree Shinholser allegedly killed 31-year old John Currier at his apartment in Badger last weekend.

  The pair remains in jail on a cash bond of one-point-five-million dollars.

  According to the criminal complaint, Lemen and Shinholser admitted to investigators that Lemen was choking Currier, while Shinholser was hitting him in the head with a type of hatchet.

  The preliminary autopsy report lists Currier's cause of death as strangulation with chopping wounds to the head.

  The pair said they were mad at Currier, after he'd made derogatory remarks about Shinholser.

  Their next court appearance is scheduled for October 22. If convicted they each face a maximum sentence of 40-years in prison.
