Roseau Man Found Dead in His Home

  31-year old John Currier of Badger, Minnesota is dead. His neighbors, 34-year old Jeremy Lemen and 24-year old Desiree Shinholser are being held in the Roseau County Jail on charges of 2nd degree murder. The pair is scheduled to make their initial court appearance today.

A neighbor in Currier's Badger, Minnesota apartment building says the trio was arguing about stolen merchandise, last weekend.  The neighbor says the body of the victim, John Currier was found in a ceiling cubby hole of his upstairs apartment. The suspect couple lived in a nearby building.

Jesse Wojciechowski, Neighbor: "There was a girl over asking about the guy who lived up in number one. Next thing I know they found him dead up there in a cubby hole upstairs."

Tammy Wallace, Neighbor: "The 2 in question have been fighting with the man who's deceased over stolen property."
Reporter: "You're saying the suspects were stealing property from the victim?"
Wallace: "Yes."

Sheriff Steve Gust would not comment on a motive in the case. But, it appears the victim may have died from a beating."

Reporter: "It appeared the victim died of trauma?"
Sheriff Gust: "Correct."
Reporter: "And the body was found in an unusual place?
Gust: "Unusual place. Not normal... where you would see it."

A neighbor says the victim John Currier was a nice guy.
The Sheriff says Currier was originally from International Falls and had been working at Polaris in Roseau and living here for a couple of years.
